About John Hornbostel

Based in New York City, John Hornbostel is Associate General Counsel with Franklin Templeton Investments. In this position, he maintains responsibility for global legal and regulatory services for the Alternatives and Solutions businesses within Franklin Templeton Investments. Earlier in 2016, John Hornbostel was also named Corporate Secretary for Fiduciary Trust Company International (in New York City), the wealth management subsidiary of Franklin Templeton Investments. Previously, John Hornbostel was General Counsel and Senior Managing Director of K2 Advisors, the global hedge fund solutions firm (in Stamford, Connecticut and New York City), serving as General Counsel for 4 years. Franklin Templeton Investments acquired a majority interest in K2 Advisors in 2012 and John Hornbostel expanded his responsibilities, formally commencing his current position in 2014. Prior to joining K2 Advisors in 2010, John Hornbostel was Deputy General Counsel (head of Alternatives Legal) and Managing Director of PineBridge Investments (formerly known as AIG Investments).

Prior to launching his legal career, John Hornbostel earned a bachelor of arts in American history from Middlebury College and a juris doctor from Fordham University School of Law. He is admitted to practice in the State of New York and was admitted as Authorized House Counsel in Connecticut. He has been an active participant in industry organizations (currently, the Investment Advisers Association and previously the Committee on Private Investment Funds of the Bar Association of the City of New York).
